Mikawa Port has recorded the largest number
of automobile imports within Japan for the
last 12 years, while ranked number 2 in Japan
(as of 2005) with regards to exports, making
it the largest port for automobile movement
in Japan. Not only domestic, but also German
and American automobile manufacturers use
the port to ship their products.
The Kamomeria Port Information Center was
opened in July 2005 to act as an important
resource center with information on the exports
and imports of automobiles and containers,
as well as providing education resources focused
on the theme “Mikawa, the Largest Automotive
Port in Japan.” The center features a diorama
of Mikawa Port and display models of car-carriers
and container ships, and you can take advantage
of the live video screen and observation deck
looking over the entire Mikawa Port. |
