Shinshiro

Sakurabuchi Park

Sakurabuchi Park is said to have started with the planting of cherry blossom trees along the Toyokawa River by the lord of Shinshiro Castle in the early 17th century. Visitors can enjoy beauty all year round with cherry blossoms in spring and changing colors of the leaves in autumn.

Toyokawa

Sanagawa Riverside

There are many famous places for cherry blossoms in Toyokawa and the Sanagawa Riverside which flows through the center of the city is one of them. Around 800 trees were planted in 1951 in commemoration of river improvement completion displaying pink flowers every year which hang low and come into contact with the river surface. People such as volunteers have been carrying out work on the area in recent years creating a contrast with the yellow colors of nanohana flowers.

Toyone-mura

Blueberries

Blueberry farming was started in Toyone-mura around 20 years ago. Blueberries are grown focusing on the highbush blueberry variety utilizing the cool climate of the highlands. Blueberry farmers in Toyone-mura open up their fields for blueberry picking every year from around July to mid-August so visitors can enjoy freshly picked blueberries. Blueberries are also made into jam which is a specialty product of Toyone.

Gamagori

Gamagori Noryo Fireworks Festival

The highlight of the Noryo Fireworks Festival is the Shosanshakudama firework with a diameter of 90cm. This firework is launched from a barge on the ocean expanding to 650m diameter when launched. This is the largest firework on the Pacific Coast and 3 different varieties of these are launched in one night.

Gamagori

Mandarin Orange Picking

The Gamagori Orange Park lets visitors enjoy fruit picking all year round. Strawberries are available January through May, melons and grapes are available May through September and Mandarin Oranges are available October through December. There is also a restaurant which can serve 1,000 people at a time and a lineup of local products.

Shitara-cho

Tsugu Flower Festival

The Tsugu Flower Festival is held every year from the afternoon of January 2nd in the Maido Garden of Tsugu’s Shiratori Shrine. The festival starts with the hachinomai performance and continues with the shikisanban, hinenogi, jigatamenomai and mikagura performances. At around 9:00PM, there is a yamami oni performance. Afterwards, performers carry yutabusa straw brushes and dance the yubayashi to a nimble tempo for a shizume calming ceremony which is carried out until the following morning.
