Mt. Horaiji Temple Path Course

This course features the nature and historical architecture of Mt. Horaiji. The Horaiji bus stop of Toyotetsu Bus is the starting point of this course which tours many famous places. There are a number of highlights such as Mt. Horaiji which was designated as a national nature treasure and a beauty spot as well as important cultural properties such as Niomon and Toshogu. Visitors can enjoy this course all year round with the autumn colors especially recommended.

    Mt. Horaiji Nature

    This museum has the way in which ground in this area has been made up, plants and animals inhabiting here, fossils and minerals from this area focusing on Mt. Horaiji on exhibition.

    This gate was built under the order of Tokugawa Iemitsu and large Nio Guardians are standing on both sides. This is designated as a national important cultural property in the same manner as Horaisan Toshogu Shrine.

    This shrine was built in the land inhabited by Tokugawa Ieyasu under the order of the 3rd generation shogun Iemitsu to express gratitude towards his grandfather. This is designated as a national important cultural property in the same manner as Niomon.
